Which country is referred to as the hinge of Africa?

Answer: Cameroon is referred to as the hinge of Africa due to its central location and frequent volcanic activity.

Mt. Cameroon (elev. 4,095 m), last erupted in 2000 and is the most frequently active volcano in West Africa. The volcano releases poisonous gases from the bottom of Lake Oku which killed thousands of people and livestock in 1986.
